Schedule reminder for this Wednesday, August 10, 2016

Coming up this Wednesday, hammerdirt will be engaging in our routine marine litter survey at the Cordova Creek spillway on the American River, (where Cordova Creek joins the American River), see map below. During these surveys, we collect all visible discarded ( and displaced) trash within an established area, then these items are separated, grouped, counted and documented then removed and disposed. This procedure allows us to build upon an ongoing database for this location, (number of pieces of specific types of litter per square meter, over time), also, water Ph values are collected from the spillway as well as the American River just upstream from this confluence. Wildlife observations are recorded and posted too. Anyone is welcome to come observe and learn more about these interventions and about us. Survey begins every Wednesday at exactly 11:30 a.m. and will usually conclude by 1:00 - 1:30 p.m.
